Mobile Recorder HD

Mobile Recorder HD allows you to record audio using the built-in microphone or microphone enabled earbuds on iPhone and iPad. On the iPad Touch, you need to have a headset or earbuds with an integrated microphone as the device does not include a built-in microphone.

If you have a device that has hardware support for AAC encoding, then you can choose to have your audio files converted to AAC when recording has completed. The AAC conversion function is supported on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad. For other devices, your files will be stored as AIFF files which are uncompressed and therefore take more space.

To move your recordings off of your device to your computer, you have 3 options:

  • First, you can use iTunes file sharing feature on devices running iOS 3.2 or higher. Just connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer with the USB dock connector. Open iTunes and select the attached device. Choose the applications tab within iTunes. On the bottom of the page, you will find a list of applications that support file sharing. Mobile Recorder HD should be in the list. Select the icon for Mobile Recorder and you will see your exported files on the right side.
  • Second, you can email your recordings to an email address. Select the export button on the bottom of the application's main page and fill in the email details on the email that is presented.
  • Finally, you can also transfer your recordings using WiFi sync. In order to use this feature, your iPhone or iPad must be connected to a WiFi network (this feature cannot work on a cellular network such as EDGE or 3G). Open the WiFi sharing page and turn on remote access. The iPhone or iPad will show the URL you would use to access the files. Open a browser on a computer on the same WiFi network that your iPhone or iPad is on. Enter the URL shown into your computer's browser. You will see a list of your exported recordings and can download them directly.
