The preferences window allows you to customize certain aspects of Syncopation's behavior. You access the preferences window using the switch icon from the toolbar, or by selecting the Preferences option from the application menu.
General Preferences
| Library Name | Allows you to set the name which is used to identify your music library to other computers on the network. By default, the library name combines your user name and computer name together, for example, Joe User (Computer). |
| Automatically check for updates | When checked, Syncopation will access the sonzea.com web site to determine if an updated version of Syncopation is available and offer to take you to Sonzea's site so that you may download the updated application. |
Sync Preferences
| Peer to Peer | When operating in peer-to-peer mode, Syncopation will synchronize to changes on all Subscribed iTunes libraries on your network. See the help topics on Synchronization Mode for more information. |
| Sync with Master Library | When operating in Master Library mode, one computer will be designated as the Master within your network. Syncopation will synchronize to changes on that Master Library only. The Master Library itself will not synchronize to other libraries. See the help topics on Synchronization Mode for more information. |
| Synchronize track types | Allows you to select which types of tracks get synchronized. When the movies checkbox is checked, movie tracks will be copied. Similarly, you can turn on or off the synchronization of Podcasts and TV Shows. Music files are always synchronized. |
| Automatically synchronize with remote libraries | When checked, Syncopation will automatically transfer new music and video files and add them to your iTunes music library. If this option is unchecked, Syncopation will list additions in the Pending Changes folder, and they will not be performed until you explicitly synchronize. See the help topics on Reviewing Changes and Synchronizing for more information. |
| Automatically delete tracks removed from remote libraries | When checked, Syncopation will automatically move music and video files to the trash folder when they are removed from iTunes on remote music libraries. Syncopation does not automatically empty the trash folder, so if you want to recover the track, you can restore it later. See the help topic on the Trash Folder for more information. |
Playlist Preferences
| All Playlists | This setting tells Syncopation that you want to synchronize the entire contents of your music library between computers, including all playlists. |
| Selected Playlists | When the Selected Playlists setting is checked, you can choose one or more playlists from the list. The set of selected playlists defines the content that Syncopation will use to synchronize with. Other playlists, songs or videos not in the selected playlists are not considered. See the Playlists section for more information. |
Advanced Preferences
| Allow deletion of protected (m4p) music files | When checked, any iTunes Music Store files which are in the trash folder will be permanently deleted when you empty the trash. If not checked, these files will remain in the trash folder and will not be deleted when the trash is emptied. See the help topic on the Trash Folder for more information. |
| Import tracks without copying | This option enables support for synchronizing when iTunes track files are kept on a shared network folder and should not be copied to the machine locally. Syncopation will look in the iTunes music library location first to see if a copy of the file is already present. If it is, then it will be added to iTunes using the existing location, without copying it to computer. If the option is not checked, a copy of the music file will be made on the local computer. |
